For their 35th wedding anniversary in 2017, Joe surprised his wife, Deb, with a vow renewal on Aruba.

He researched, contacted the rabbi of Beth Israel Synagogue — the island nation’s only Jewish temple at the time — and arranged for a taxi there from Playa Linda Beach Resort in Oranjestad, where they were staying. He concealed his covert plan by telling Deb to dress up for a fancy dinner date.

The couple arrived at the synagogue, and the awaiting rabbi drove them to a nearby gazebo, where they renewed their vows at sunset. The rabbi’s wife was their photographer.

“It could not have been a more perfect setting,” Joe says. “The memories that we have of that vacation and special event will last a lifetime for the two of us!”
